LFA is supporting the education in Santa Maria de Ojeal by developing an educational program with the school focusing on biology, ecology and the knowledge of medicinal plants. LFA is bringing experts from the field of biology and plant medicine to do presentations for the students and to work on specific projects.

We are supporting the project of Luz Rabarosa, teacher of agricultural science at the school in Santa Maria. We built a garden to grow medicinal plants so the students can learn directly about the healing abilities of the Amazon rainforest, in collaboration with Rolando Nina, our indigenous expert of plant medicine.

LFA is fostering a dialogue with local practitioners of plant medicine, learning about their traditions and their personal story. We are visiting their forest and learning to view it through their eyes. These people hold a immense wealth of knowledge that is passed down orally, and LFA mission is to preserve and transmit it to the new generations.

LFA since 2019 has supported the local community for their Holiday Celebration. Our non-profit organizes a “Chocolatada”: a traditional celebration of holidays in which hot chocolate, panettone and gifts are offered to the children. We have also brought entertainment with a clown and Santa Claus.

LFA was asked to sponsor and help organizing the celebration for the anniversary of the schools of Santa Maria de Ojeal. We were asked to provide prizes for the various competitions that were part of the celebration program. We also helped with organizing the celebration and the parade, and we were aske dto be part of the jury for the different awards.
